Our Rich History

The Legacy of the Little Red School House

Constructed in 1888, the Little Red School House served as a cornerstone of education in the Prickly Pear Valley until its closure in the early 1920s. After years of neglect, it was lovingly restored in the late 1970s by descendants of the original students. Today, it stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of our community, offering a glimpse into the past and a venue for future memories.

Our Mission and Vision

The Little Red School House – Events Center is dedicated to preserving the rich history of our community while providing a unique and authentic experience for all visitors. Our mission is to offer schoolchildren a glimpse into the past through an immersive educational experience in a restored 1888 one-room schoolhouse. We also aim to serve as a beloved venue for community gatherings, fostering a sense of togetherness and celebration among residents of the Prickly Pear Valley.

Since its restoration in the late 1970s by descendants of the original class members, the Little Red School House has become a cornerstone of our community. We host a variety of events, from educational field trips to weddings and family reunions. Our vision is to continue being a place where history comes alive and memories are made, ensuring that future generations can appreciate the heritage and traditions of our area.
